This week I have the great pleasure of introducing the Photoshop software to a class of junior high art students. I didn’t even hear about Photoshop until my senior year of high school, and I can only imagine the possibilities that would have opened up to me, had I known about the program in junior high.
We’re learning to use the basic tools in Photoshop with a project focused on Leonardo da Vinci. We’ll be taking a high-resolution image of the Mona Lisa painting and coupling it with his thoughts on simplicity: “Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.” The project is to arrange the image and text in a satisfying way using cropping, shapes, font and color.
The Mona Lisa is such a ubiquitous image, I thought it would be fun to dig up some variations of the mystery woman. Here’s what I found:
