Saturday was nuts!

After 200 hours of planning, priming and painting, Provo City celebrated the new murals along the Provo River Trail with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Joined by dozens of good friends and family, we heard a few words from Provo city mayor John Curtis and council members Kay van Buren and Gary Winterton.

Following our city leaders, I cut the tunnel ribbon with the largest pair of scissors I’ve ever seen and the murals were officially opened to the public!

IN THE NEWS

The show of support for the trail, the murals and for the city was nearly overwhelming. In attendance were Provo City leaders, the Provo Police Department, Provo Fire Department and a few news teams, including KSL 5, Deseret News, and Fox 13. Check out the news articles, photos and videos below:

I’d like to publicly thank everyone that has been involved in the making of the murals. We had something like 140 hours put in by volunteers that came to clean the trail, wash the walls, prime the cement, paint base coats and add sealant to the finished paintings. It’s been a community effort to create these murals and I have a lot of people to thank for it.

TAKE PART IN THE MURALS

Even though the tunnels have been painted and sealed, there’s still something you can do to help: USE ‘EM! The purpose in painting the murals is to deter graffiti and crime along the Provo River Trail. Incidents are much less likely to happen if the trail is packed with people, so take advantage of the beautiful Provo River Trail and enjoy the new murals!
