CUT IT

I’ve always loved potato stamps–they’re easy to make and fun to use. (I’ve even used variations of potato stamps in some of my drawings and paintings!) Here I’ve cut the edges of a potato to make a Rumpus body. I cut out a circle for the eye.

1PAINT IT

We used green fingerpaint, and brushed the paint onto the surface of the potato stamp.

STAMP IT

The trickiest part is getting a good “print”. We learned quickly to push the potato firmly against the paper, and to press down on every part of the potato. You should end up with a fairly solid shape of color, which you can add arms, legs, eyes and mouths to and finish your monster!
