Okay, we all know that John Lasseter is the founder and director of Pixar. He’s been instrumental in making computer animation what it is today. This short film shows what day-to-day living and working is like for John, now that Pixar is a household name.

I’ve had in-depth discussions with several people this week who have a far-reaching vision for what they want to accomplish in life creatively. The problem, they say, is that there isn’t a job opening (or sometimes even a position that exists). The answer I keep coming back to is that we need to forge the jobs we want ourselves. If we are creative, then we are problem-solvers. The problem we face is most serious: how to do what we want to do for a living and make money, without it being about the money. There was really no position for what John did in the 80s and he toyed with the nature of his work and animation at large in the 90s. It’s encouraging to know that people do it and do it well.

We don’t have to become the next John Lasseter—that’s John’s job. But if you’re not working hard to become the best you that you can be, you’re holding back from the rest of us. We want to see what it is you have to offer. We want to be a part of it. We want to experience it.
